Personnel Policies For Student Employees
of The University of Alabama
The University of Alabama is subject to many federal
and state laws relating to student employees. While these laws define
student employees differently, all include some criteria for enrollment,
attendance, course load and number of hours worked. In order to administer
the various federal and state laws applicable to employment, policies have
been established to define student employees at the University. The
employing department is responsible for adherence to these policies and
eligibility for student status will be subject to periodic audit and reporting
to the divisional Vice Presidents. The policies do not apply to students
in the Work-Study Program.
By Virtue of their appointment, student employees
are not eligible for benefits.
