Author Bill Knott to Read
as Part of UA's Bankhead Visiting Writers Series TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Author Bill
Knott will read from his poetry work on Thursday, Aug. 30, at 7:30 p.m.,
in 205 Smith Hall, as part of this year's Bankhead Visiting Writers
Series at The University of Alabama. The event is free and open to the
public. Knott is the author of nine
books of poetry. Most recently he has published "Laugh at the End
of the World: Collected Comic Poems 1969-1999," "The Quicken
Tree," "Outremer," and "Poems, 1963-1988." His work is featured in a
number of major literary journals and poetry magazines. He has received
numerous grants and awards, including a National Endowment for the Arts
fellowship and the Elliston Prize for his "Selected and Collected
Poems." He currently lives in Boston where he is professor of
writing, literature, and publishing in the master of fine arts program
at Emerson College. The Bankhead Visiting Writers
