17. Association Scholarships

Numerous professional associations award scholarships to students seeking graduate degrees in professionally related fields. One such association is the Air and Waste Management Association AWMA, (Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 2861, Pittsburg, PA 15230, 412/232-3444.), www.awma.org which awards about $8,000 to graduate students in the areas of air pollution control or waste management. Early inquiry and application are encouraged. Involvement in professional organizations provides networking opportunities that may lead to additional sources of funding for graduate work.

For additional information on over 30,000 associations, refer to the Encyclopedia of Associations, Deborah M. Murek, ed. (available in the UA Main Library Reference Room: REF HS 17 .G32 or you may visit the University of Alabama’s libraries website at www.lib.ua.edu).
