MATERIALS FOR INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY The Center for Materials for Information Technology (MINT) at The University of Alabama is a multidisciplinary research program that includes students and faculty from six different departments at UA and from the tri-campus Materials Science Program. The mission of the Center is to perform world-class research, educate students, and serve as a resource and communication channel for the information storage industry. Research programs range from the most fundamental studies of spintronic materials and phenomena to the technologies of information storage systems. Basic science, supported by strong materials preparation and characterization facilities, is focused on future opportunities for materials breakthroughs. Promising results are transferred to our industry partners through collaborative research programs. An infrastructure of exchange visits and visitors, seminars, workshops, industrial internships, and research reviews facilitates a dynamic approach for information growth.
